Meerut: Tension prevailed throughout Friday in Kapasad village, Saradhna tehsil, Meerut district, after the brutal murder of Sunita and kidnapping of her daughter Ruby (both from Scheduled Caste). The incident sparked widespread protests, turning the village into a virtual battleground with heavy police deployment.
The victim’s body arrived at the village after postmortem around 10 PM, but the family refused final rites until Ruby was recovered. This led to day-long standoffs. Saradhna MLA Atul Pradhan was blocked from entering the village, prompting his supporters to stage a dharna. Police barricaded all entry points, deploying RAF and heavy forces. DIG Kala Nidhi Naithani, DM Theek Singh, and SSP Dr. Vipin camped in the village, negotiating with the family.
Administrative officials offered ₹10 lakh compensation, but the family demanded justice first. By evening, former MLA Sangeet Som and ex-MP Sanjeev Baliyan arrived, assuring strict action. Som stayed with the family until they agreed to the funeral around 7:30 PM.
Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh, who visited Meerut, said the Chief Minister is serious about the incident. Teams have been formed to arrest the accused and rescue Ruby. Some family members of suspects are in custody. “Legal and financial aid will be provided; peace will be maintained,” he assured.
The murder occurred Thursday night. Four main roads to the village were sealed with barriers. RAF conducted route marches. The family accused dominant caste members of the crime. Political leaders from BJP and allies engaged throughout the day.

मेरठ। सरधना तहसील के कपसाद गांव में अनुसूचित जाति की सुनीता की हत्या और बेटी रूबी के अपहरण ने शुक्रवार को पूरे दिन घमासान मचा दिया। पोस्टमार्टम के बाद शव गांव पहुंचा, लेकिन परिवार ने बेटी की बरामदगी तक अंतिम संस्कार करने से इनकार कर दिया। गांव छावनी में तब्दील हो गया। सभी प्रमुख रास्तों पर बैरिकेडिंग कर दी गई। आरएएफ की टुकड़ी ने फ्लैग मार्च निकाला।
सरधना विधायक अतुल प्रधान को गांव जाने से रोका गया, तो उनके समर्थकों ने धरना दे दिया। सुबह से डीआईजी कलानिधि नैथानी, डीएम थीके सिंह और एसएसपी डॉ. विपिन परिवार को मनाने में जुटे रहे। प्रशासन ने 10 लाख रुपये का चेक सौंपा, लेकिन परिवार न्याय की मांग पर अड़ा रहा।
शाम तक पूर्व विधायक संगीत सोम और पूर्व सांसद संजीव बालियान पहुंचे। सोम ने परिवार के साथ बैठकर बात की और अंतिम संस्कार के लिए मनाया। शाम साढ़े सात बजे सुनीता का अंतिम संस्कार हुआ। इस दौरान भारी पुलिस बल तैनात रहा।
प्रदेश सरकार के पशुधन मंत्री धर्मपाल सिंह ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री इस घटना पर गंभीर हैं। डीएम-एसएसपी को आरोपितों की गिरफ्तारी और लड़की बरामदगी का जिम्मा दिया गया है। 10 पुलिस टीमें लगाई गई हैं। संदिग्धों के परिजनों से पूछताछ चल रही है। “कानूनी-आर्थिक सहायता देंगे। शांति व्यवस्था बनाए रखेंगे,” उन्होंने कहा। THE TIME OF INDIA
गुरुवार रात हुई घटना के बाद गांव में तनाव व्याप्त था। पीड़ित परिवार ने प्रभावशाली जाति के लोगों पर अपराध का आरोप लगाया। एसपी देहात और एसडीएम ने मध्यस्थता की। 50 लाख सहायता और परिवार के एक सदस्य को सरकारी नौकरी का वादा किया। तब जाकर सतेंद्र जाटव (पति) और नरमी कुमार (बेटा) मान गए। श्मशान घाट पर अतुल प्रधान समेत नेता मौजूद रहे।
पुलिस का दावा है कि जल्द ही आरोपी गिरफ्तार होंगे। यह घटना पश्चिमी यूपी में जातीय तनाव और कानून व्यवस्था की पोल खोलती है।
