Sarsawa, Saharanpur: In a spine-chilling incident, Amin Ashok Kumar Rathi  drugged his 70-year-old mother Vidya Devi, 37-year-old wife Anjita, 16-year-old son Kartik, and 13-year-old son Dev with sleeping pills mixed in food Monday late night in Kaushik Bihar Colony. Once they fell into deep sleep, he shot each one point-blank on the forehead with a pistol. He then shot himself twice — once in the chest and once at the temple — ending five lives in a horrific family massacre.

The gruesome discovery was made Tuesday morning around 7 AM by nephew Preet from Vaidpura. When Ashok didn’t answer his phone, Preet climbed to the first floor using a neighbor’s ladder. The bedroom scene froze him in horror — all five lay dead with bullet wounds. He immediately called his grandfather Jasvir. BJP Mahila Morcha leader Neha Rana informed SSP, triggering senior officials’ arrival.

DIG Abhishek Kumar, DM Manish Bansal, SSP Ashish Tiwari reached with forensic teams. Police recovered three illegal pistols from the scene. Investigation revealed Ashok was undergoing depression treatment. A year ago, he had attempted to poison his wife and sons with sherbet — all survived after treatment.

Before suicide, Ashok sent a voice message at 2:30 AM to sister Moni (Sadauli Kadeem resident), confessing: “I’ve killed mother, wife, and sons. Now shooting myself.” Morni informed Preet, leading to the discovery.

Originally from Khari Bas village, Nakur tehsil, the family moved to Tighra Colony a year ago, then rented rooms in Kaushik Bihar (owned by Mangeraam, Dehradun). Ashok, posted in Nakur tehsil, accessed the first floor via stairs.

Forensic teams collected samples. Sleeping pills in food ensured victims slept deeply before execution-style murders. The motive remains depression-related, police confirmed. The tragedy sent shockwaves through Saharanpur.
