ग्रामीण मदद को दौड़े लेकिन उग्र सांड देख दूर रुक गए। सांड ने शव पर अगले पैर जमाकर पहरा देना शुरू कर दिया। 30 मिनट तक चिल्लाते, पत्थर फेंकते, लाठियां फटकारते रहे, लेकिन सांड जस का तस। “हम बेबस थे, हमला करने को तैयार लग रहा था,” ने एक ग्रामीण बताया। तब ट्रैक्टर-ट्रॉली मंगवाकर लाठी-डंडे से लैस ग्रामीण सवार हुए। ट्रैक्टर की ओर बढ़ते ही सांड भागा, एक घंटे बाद शव बाहर निकाला गया।
प्रेमा देवी की मौत से आक्रोशित ग्रामीणों ने आवारा पशुओं के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन किया। “बेसहारा पशु घूमते हैं, रोज खतरा—गौशालाएं बनाओ,” नारेबाजी की। इलाके में बार-बार हमले हो रहे, प्रशासन पर लापरवाही का आरोप।
