English News: Rivers Overflow in Bijnor, Delhi-Pauri Highway Submerged in 3 Feet of Water

Bijnor, August 7, 2025 — Incessant rainfall across Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh has caused rivers like the Ganga, Gangan, and Malu to overflow, severely disrupting life and traffic. A significant portion of the Delhi-Pauri National Highway (NH-119) is flooded to a depth of 1.5 to 3 feet.

The most affected section lies between Nagina and Kotdwar, where dozens of vehicles are stranded. Cars and two-wheelers have stalled in floodwater, and heavy trucks are stuck in long traffic jams. Authorities have temporarily closed traffic on this highway and are diverting vehicles to alternative routes.

Rural areas along the rivers have also been flooded. Farmlands and low-lying homes are underwater, raising concerns of displacement and crop damage. Relief teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are on-site and working with local police to manage the situation.

District officials have advised residents in vulnerable areas to relocate to higher ground. Temporary relief camps are being set up to assist affected families.
