The shocking attack happened in the Moirang Tragolabi area of Bishnupur around 1 a.m. According to police sources, suspected militants threw a grenade into a house where a family was asleep. The explosive landed inside a bedroom, instantly killing a five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister.
Their mother, who was sleeping next to them, suffered severe injuries from the blast and was rushed to a hospital in Imphal for emergency treatment. Doctors say her condition remains critical but stable.
The horrifying incident quickly spread across the area by morning, sparking outrage among local residents who accused authorities of failing to control violence that has troubled the state for years.
How the Night of Horror Unfolded
Police officials said the explosion occurred shortly after midnight when most families in the neighborhood were asleep. The grenade blast tore through the bedroom walls, shattering windows and damaging a large section of the house.
Neighbors rushed to help as soon as they heard the explosion. Some tried to rescue the victims from the debris, but the two children had already suffered fatal injuries. The injured mother was quickly taken to hospital by locals before emergency services arrived.

The situation escalated further when a large group moved toward a nearby CRPF camp located about 100 meters away.
