Namo Bharat Train
Travel from Meerut to Delhi is set for a revolutionary upgrade. The Namo Bharat train aced a historic trial run, covering Sarai Kale Khan to Begumpul—76 km—in just 39 minutes without stopping.
Trial Run Highlights
On Friday, NCRTC conducted a key trial for Namo Bharat. Departing Sarai Kale Khan at 11:59 AM, it reached Begumpul by 12:30 PM, traversing most of the 82 km corridor seamlessly. Meerut Metro mirrored the feat, zipping 15 km from Begumpul to Meerut South (Bhudbaral) in 9 minutes at a peak speed of 98 km/h—slashing road travel time of 40-45 minutes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Namo Bharat extension and Meerut Metro on February 22. Services commence at 3 PM across the full corridor post-launch.
Key Stations and Route
Namo Bharat stations include: Sarai Kale Khan (largest), New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar (underground), Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram. With stops, the 82 km from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram takes 55 minutes; Begumpul in about 50. Bypassing Delhi Road jams offers a serene high-speed ride.
Meerut Metro, halting at all stations, will cover Meerut South to Modipuram in 30 minutes—one of India’s fastest metro links.
