A quiet neighborhood in Sirohi turned tense late Friday night after a violent clash between two rival groups left four people seriously injured, including two police personnel who had rushed to control the situation.

According to police sources, the incident occurred around 1 AM, when a long-running dispute between two families suddenly escalated into a physical confrontation. What began as a heated argument quickly spiraled into chaos, with sticks, iron rods and stones reportedly used during the fight.

Among the injured are Constable Ram Lal and Head Constable Manoj, who were part of the police team sent to disperse the crowd. Ram Lal suffered a severe head injury and is currently on ventilator support at a hospital, while Manoj sustained multiple fractures.

Two other individuals from the opposing groups, identified as Vikram Singh and Gopal, were also seriously injured during the clash and are receiving treatment.

How the Violence Broke Out

Police officials say the confrontation appears to have been triggered by an old land dispute and family rivalry between the two groups. Residents reported loud shouting shortly after midnight before the situation turned violent.

As the altercation intensified, locals alerted the nearby police station. A police team immediately reached the location to bring the situation under control. However, instead of calming down, members from both sides allegedly turned aggressive and attacked the officers as well.

Stones were reportedly thrown at the police team, forcing additional forces to be deployed. Officers eventually used mild force to disperse the crowd after nearly half an hour of unrest.

Eyewitnesses Recall Panic

Residents of the locality described scenes of panic as the fight unfolded.

One eyewitness said the situation escalated rapidly.

“At first there was shouting between the two groups, but within minutes people began attacking each other with sticks and stones. When the police arrived, the crowd even started pelting stones at them. We locked our doors out of fear,” said a resident of the area.

Several shops in the locality shut down overnight as ambulances and police vehicles rushed to the scene.

Police Statement

Speaking about the incident, Rajendra Singh confirmed that multiple cases have been registered against those involved.

“Our personnel were injured while trying to control the situation. FIRs have been registered against members of both groups, and strict action will be taken against those responsible,” he said.

Police have so far detained three suspects, and more arrests are expected after reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements.

Authorities have also recovered several sticks and other weapons believed to have been used in the attack.

Investigation Underway

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident. Police have registered a case under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including:

  • Section 307 – Attempt to murder
  • Section 323 – Voluntarily causing hurt
  • Section 353 – Assault on a public servant

Charges under the Arms Act have also been added for possession of weapons during the clash.

Meanwhile, additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further unrest.

Rising Tensions in the Region

Officials say disputes related to land and family rivalries have been a recurring problem in parts of Sirohi district.

Over the past year, several similar confrontations have required police intervention. Local authorities believe unresolved disputes, unemployment and growing social tensions have contributed to such incidents.

Community leaders have appealed for calm and urged both sides to resolve conflicts through dialogue rather than violence.

Situation Under Control

District officials said the situation in the area is now under control, though security has been tightened as a precaution. Markets reopened cautiously the next morning while police continued patrolling sensitive locations.

Authorities have assured residents that strict action will be taken against those involved and that every effort is being made to restore peace.
