जम्मू-कश्मीर में लगातार हो रही मूसलाधार बारिश ने प्रदेश में भारी तबाही मचा दी है। सोमवार देर रात कटरा से श्री माता वैष्णो देवी मंदिर जाने वाले मुख्य मार्ग पर अचानक भूस्खलन हो गया, जिसमें 34 श्रद्धालुओं की मौत हो गई और दर्जनों घायल हो गए। मृतकों में महिलाएं और बच्चे भी शामिल हैं। इस घटना ने पूरे प्रदेश को स्तब्ध कर दिया है और अमरनाथ व वैष्णो देवी यात्रा पर आए श्रद्धालुओं में दहशत का माहौल है।
भूस्खलन से अवरुद्ध हुआ मार्ग
कटरा से अर्धकुंवारी और भवन की ओर जाने वाले मार्ग पर भारी मात्रा में मलबा गिरा, जिससे सैकड़ों यात्री फंस गए। रातभर बारिश होने से स्थिति और खराब हो गई। एनडीआरएफ, एसडीआरएफ और सेना की टीमें तुरंत राहत कार्य के लिए पहुंचीं और फंसे श्रद्धालुओं को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर ले जाया गया। प्रशासन ने एहतियात के तौर पर यात्रा को अस्थायी रूप से रोक दिया है।
घायलों का इलाज जारी
घायल श्रद्धालुओं को नजदीकी अस्पतालों—नारायणा अस्पताल कटरा और जीएमसी जम्मू—में भर्ती कराया गया है। कुछ गंभीर घायलों को एयरलिफ्ट भी किया गया। डॉक्टरों ने बताया कि कई लोग सिर, रीढ़ और पैरों में गंभीर चोटों से जूझ रहे हैं।
प्रशासन और सेना अलर्ट
जम्मू संभाग के आयुक्त रमेश कुमार ने बताया कि बचाव अभियान लगातार जारी है। अब तक 150 से अधिक श्रद्धालुओं को सुरक्षित निकाला जा चुका है। सेना और वायुसेना को भी हाई अलर्ट पर रखा गया है। डॉग स्क्वायड और आधुनिक मशीनरी से मलबे में दबे लोगों की तलाश की जा रही है।
मौसम विभाग की चेतावनी
भारतीय मौसम विभाग ने आने वाले 48 घंटों तक भारी वर्षा और भूस्खलन की संभावना जताई है। प्रशासन ने स्थानीय लोगों और यात्रियों को बाढ़ संभावित क्षेत्रों से दूर रहने की अपील की है। इसके साथ ही तीर्थयात्रियों को फिलहाल यात्रा स्थगित करने की सलाह दी गई है।
शोक और मुआवजा
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने इस दुखद घटना पर अपनी गहरी संवेदना व्यक्त की। उन्होंने मृतकों के परिवारों को 2-2 लाख रुपये और घायलों को उनके स्वास्थ्य लाभ के लिए 50-50 हज़ार रुपये की आर्थिक सहायता देने की घोषणा की। जम्मू-कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल सिन्हा ने भी अपनी संवेदना व्यक्त की और स्थिति से निपटने तथा प्रभावित समुदायों को राहत प्रदान करने के लिए त्वरित कार्रवाई और सहायता का आश्वासन दिया।
यह हादसा इस बात की ओर इशारा करता है कि प्राकृतिक आपदाओं के समय तीर्थयात्रा मार्गों पर और अधिक सुरक्षा और व्यवस्थाओं की आवश्यकता है।

Jammu & Kashmir Tragedy: 34 Dead in Vaishno Devi Landslide as Torrential Rains Trigger Chaos
Jammu and Kashmir has been reeling under incessant rainfall for the past three days, causing widespread destruction and triggering multiple landslides. On Monday night, a massive landslide struck the Katra–Vaishno Devi route, claiming the lives of at least 34 pilgrims, including women and children. Dozens more were injured, some critically, as boulders and debris swept through the pilgrimage path.

Pilgrims Trapped on Yatra Route
One of the busiest parts of the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, the Ardhkuwari stretch, was close to where the landslip happened. Hundreds of worshippers were left stranded when tonnes of debris clogged the road. The Indian Army, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) started rescue efforts right away. The yatra has been put on hold for the time being.

Injured Shifted to Hospitals
Authorities confirmed that over 50 injured pilgrims were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Narayana Hospital in Katra and Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.For more advanced care, a number of seriously injured patients were flown. Doctors reported severe head injuries, spinal fractures, and multiple trauma cases.

Massive Rescue Operations
Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar stated that more than 150 pilgrims have been safely evacuated so far. Sniffer dogs, drones, and heavy machinery are being used to locate those still trapped under debris. The Indian Air Force is prepared to evacuate in an emergency.

Weather Warning Continues
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours. Authorities have urged residents and devotees to avoid vulnerable zones, riverbanks, and landslide-prone areas.Until the weather improves, pilgrimages to the sacred shrine have been temporarily halted.

Condolences and Compensation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the tragedy and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also extended condolences, assuring that rescue and relief efforts will continue on a war footing.
